His Holiness Bhakti Caitanya Swami is a disciple of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami (Srila Prabhupada) and an initiating spiritual master within the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). In April 1972, as a young student at Auckland University (New Zealand), he saw Srila Prabhupada and a group of about 8 devotees walking though the University grounds and sit near the cafeteria for a program to be held there. So, literally, the first devotee he had ever seen was Srila Prabhupada.
Bhakti Caitanya Swami formally joined the society in London and received first initiation in 1973 and second initiation in 1974. He accepted sannyasa initiation in 1994, awarded to him by His Holiness Giriraj Swami. Bhakti Caitanya Swami Maharaja preaches in South Africa and surrounding areas, the Baltics, northwestern Russia and Siberia. He also visits the Volga region of Russia, Mauritius and Singapore for preaching. He is the co-Governing Body Commissioner for Southern Africa, the Baltics and Siberia and northwestern Russia.
For the past fifteen years he has particularly focused on photographing and videotaping the sacred places of Vrindavana, and has compiled one of the most extensive collections of images of this most holy place in existence.
Bhakti Caitanya Swami travels constantly all over the world lecturing on Vedic subjects, and he is widely known for his Vrindavana Parikrama DVD series; a collection of videos produced by himself of the famous holy places of India, especially Vrindavana and Navadvipa Areas.
